(Today’s Weight: 214, Miles Walked: 54.5)
My treadmill work station experience is still coming along nicely. Last weekend was a little counter-productive for the weight loss goal, but it was a blast. On Saturday, my wife, my brother-in-law, and I all went to a nearby concert, drank like fish, nearly went deaf, and had an excellent time people-watching. Then on Sunday, we watched the Indianapolis Colts lose again (which is somehow the norm this year).
Oh well, Happy Halloween!
Today, I ramped the walking back up a little. I walked for 1 hour at 2 mph, and 3 hours at 1.5 mph, for a total distance of 6.5 miles walked today. That brings the overall total to 54.5 miles walked on my treadmill work station.
One of this site’s regular followers and family member, Sharon, had a great idea in a comment on my last post. She suggested that I keep a regularly updated map showing my theoretical progress if all of this walking were to actually take me somewhere instead of staying in one place. So, I’ll now be pretending to walk from the steps of the state capitol in Nashville, TN to Navy Pier in Chicago, IL.
The total distance of this trip is 437 miles. I don’t think I’ll update this map every time I post because Google Maps doesn’t appear to offer very good tools for calculating distances like this, but here’s roughly the first leg of my journey to Chicago:
When I get closer to the windy city, I’ll offer a poll of where I should virtually walk to next. But, for now, my Weslo Cadence treadmill still hasn’t fallen apart, and I’m still fairly pleased with the IKEA standing desk, although I’m still leaning towards getting a Trek Desk at some point down the road.
For now, enjoy some more Halloween pictures.
And, enjoy a great video of cats trying to figure out what a treadmill does (not my cats, though – mine really don’t like that thing when it’s on).

Love the map!
This is going to be great! I am seriously thinking about trying to keep up with your walking on the map. Does anyone know approximately how many steps are in a mile?
You have to measure your stride when you walk. There are 5280 feet in a mile, so if your stride is 30" you would divide that into 5280 and that would give your individual steps.
Roughly 2000 steps = 1 mile
So if I walked 12,000 to 15,000 steps a day I could keep up! I think tomorrow I will give it a try.
