Three painted wood test pieces side by side, showing a light stain, a mid brown and a dark brown finish

Almost at €450k & Quick progress update

The past days have been wild. We're slowly approaching the €500k mark! Thanks to everyone who backed this campaign!

On top of the launch craziness, a couple of videos went unexpectedly viral on Instagram and TikTok. Very good timing, but also overwhelming. We're slowly getting used to everything.

I wanted to provide a quick update about my plans for the near future. TL;DR: There's a lot to do, but I'm working hard on progressing as fast as possible.

Progress on color options

Product-wise, one of the important tasks is to experiment with the color options. I'll order slats in different colors and also another softer material soon. I also painted some test pieces in dark brown to understand what kind of finish looks nice for the frame.

Each slat is one color. One half is painted once, the other half is painted with a second layer to get a darker tone.

Progress on a remaining noise issue

As mentioned in an update in the Discord community, the soft-touch slats are great, but when assembled with the frames I have on hand, there's a lot of noise. I identified the issue, and the designs have been adjusted. Today I ordered new side elements, but now we have to wait for them. This will probably take a few weeks.

I'll also visit some local maker spaces this week that have large CNC machines. The idea is that I might be able to use them on my own, making myself more independent of slow manufacturers. Those always have filled pipelines and thus take weeks to deliver. So I hope to speed up product optimizations.

IP Protection

Since the OW is based on a new mechanical design, my goal is to protect this invention. I already filed a provisional patent application earlier this year. Now I started talking to the patent attorney again to file the real patent application.
