The Office Walker
A manual walking pad in wood and steel, with soft walking tracks, running on Italian steel bearings, with no motor in it. It moves because you do. I build them by hand in Berlin to outlast the desk they sit under.
The moving parts, all replaceable
I bought a standing desk first. It did not fix it.
Standing was supposed to be the answer to everything. It is better for your posture, and I still use mine. But standing still all day is its own kind of tired, and it does not put a single step on the counter.
Walking while you stand is what actually works. So I looked at what you can buy: under desk treadmills that hum and die, and the big manual ones priced like gym equipment. I did not want either one in my flat, so I built this instead.
You can leave it in the room, and still be using it in five years.
Most walking pads are a sealed plastic box built around a motor, and the motor decides how long you keep it. There is no motor in this one. The deck moves because your feet move it, so the part that usually fails is simply not in there.
That one decision does the rest. It runs at 33 to 45 dB, so you can take a call on it. It draws 0 watts. And it is wood and steel with parts you can name and replace, which is why it looks like furniture instead of gym kit.
The main specs
The motor is the part that fails, and it takes the rest with it.
On an electric walking pad the motor is the loudest part and the part that gets hot. It is also the part that gives out first. As soon as it starts to weaken you are done, because the case was never meant to be opened. The whole thing goes in the bin and you buy another one.
There is no motor in mine, so that cannot happen. If a part ever wears out, we send you the part and you fit it in about 10 minutes with the tools you already have at home. I designed it for repairability, to be kept for years rather than replaced.
Slow is the point, not the compromise.
A motor has a minimum speed and a mind of its own. Here the deck follows your feet, so a slow pace stays slow and you stop mid step without reaching for anything. You can walk faster than 3 km/h and nothing will happen to it. We have tested it well above that. The limit is you: past about 3 km/h, actually working gets hard.
You buy it once, and then you use it for decades.
Every Walker is built by hand at our Berlin workshop, one batch at a time, from EU parts, and shipped free anywhere DHL delivers. It arrives assembled. There is nothing to plug in, no app to download, no remote to lose and no subscription waiting for you.
If something wears out you order that part, not a new pad. Spares are stocked for 10 years and most swaps take about 10 minutes. I designed it for repairability and for sustainability, so it stays yours for as long as you're doing desk jobs.
What arrives, and how it ships
Who gets one, and in what order
We build and inspect every one by hand, so they go out in sequence rather than all at once. We are at 250 a month and that grows as we hire. This is where the queue stands, and I would rather tell you it moved than quietly let it slip.
The pilot run, 30 to 40 units
A small first run goes out at the end of September. Its job is to find the edge cases and break the packaging and the shipping before volume starts, not to clear the queue.
The first backer batch, 250 units
Backer fulfilment starts properly in October, and carries on pledge tier by pledge tier from there.
The waitlist locks in
More than 28,000 people are on the waitlist. From mid November you can lock in an order below the price the store will later charge.
The store opens to everyone
Capacity moves to 500 a month, the remaining backers are shipped, and ordering opens here at the public price.

A stocked shelf is the difference between a repair and a replacement.
A parts list only means something if the parts are there when you need them and simple enough to fit yourself. Ours are stocked for 10 years, the tools come in the box, and the deck opens with two bolts, so most swaps take about 10 minutes wherever the pad already sits.
The warranty runs 5 years on the complete machine. If a part wears out and it is not your fault, we send you a new one free. After that the shelf is still there, which is why this is one purchase rather than the first of several.

It adds 14 cm under your feet. Raise your desk to a comfortable standing height, and if it can go 14 cm higher than that, you are set.
Yes. The surface is soft touch covers on the slats, comfortable barefoot or in socks, and you can wash them.
