Here's what's been happening over the past few weeks:
Product Optimization
Over the past weeks, I've built dozens of Office Walker variants to track down the exact parameters that influence noise. Along the way, I identified several different factors that can all lead to the same unwanted sound.
Last week, I finally built a version that turned out quiet and smooth (again). The key difference this time: I now understand why it works so well - which makes the result much more reproducible.
That means we're getting closer to a production-ready design.
The main open question right now is manufacturing tolerance. The track height needs to be quite precise at two specific points, while CNC machines naturally have small production tolerances. What we're currently figuring out is how much tolerance is acceptable without affecting performance and noise level.
To test this, I went to the makerspace today and produced three frames with slightly different track heights (each 0.1 mm higher than the last). Over the next few days, I'll test them. And if needed, I'll produce and test additional variants.
New Collaboration with an Engineer
Yesterday, Marvin, an experienced mechanical engineer, came by (see photo).

Together we reviewed multiple prototypes, identified potential weak points, discussed production scaling, and created a first risk analysis. And we wrapped things up with a couple of beers.
Marvin originally reached out back in December to see if he could help, especially with setting up a professional production line. It's already clear that he brings a lot of hands-on experience, and his input has been incredibly valuable.
IP Protection
My patent lawyer has now filed both the EU non-provisional patent application and an international PCT application. The next likely step will be filing in the US as well.
